ptcary
JBL MS-8 initial impressions..... Check it out here if you want: JBL Best way to put it is just like a lot of others say.....what takes me a few months and a RTA on my laptop and a lot of listening and tweaking; this thing does it all in about 10 minutes. It has auto EQ, time alignment, 31 band manual eq; DSP and is Logic 7. I have 12 Eclipse speakers in my sedan powered by 1010w RMS total. I immediately noticed that the front stage widened beyond the corners of the windshield and the sub became noticeably more articulate. It easily goes beyond what head unit DSPs are capable of. Vocals are amazingly realistic; and midbass is cleaner too. I will continue to play with it but can say that right out of the box as expected, JBL delivers! A few more pics; I still need to trim the carpet along the bottom of the sub enclosure and clean up rear shelf speaker wires. Here is the display and remote control. It is great; comes with a mount that is magnetic and holds it into place even on rough roads upside down installed on the headliner. Finally got some decent weather after a rain spell. Kevin K
What about the difference from your ported enclosure to now the sealed and did you spray the sealed with the bed liner coating?
ptcary
What about the difference from your ported enclosure to now the sealed and did you spray the sealed with the bed liner coating? Well the difference with going to sealed is obvious, but since the Mazda is all about SQ, no dissapointments at all. With the MS-8 controlling everything, I am very happy. The sub is so much more articulate now. I sprayed the inside and backside of the sealed enclosure, but not the front double-baffle. ptcary
Sorry guys, I rarely check this. These builds are still going strong essentially unchanged. PT still has the same wall, did get new seats and wheels; and has been through a few different head units. The best it ever did on the meter was 143. It is still very dynamic sounding. Still has the small SMD decals on it! Its now a garage queen, hasnt been rained on in years. Gets high end detailed once a year and comes out when the weather is nice. The Mazda is unchanged and is just a very nice SQ setup. I also have a new Focus ST with all Cadence speakers in it, just a factory upgrade with the My Ford Touch. I spend most of my time detailing them. The Focus is getting stage 2 performance upgrades. Someday -maybe- the PT will get a 4th order wall with 4 15s. But I have to seriously clean out my garage first. PTCary 2003 SMD PT Cruiser 2011 Honda CBR 250R 2010 Mazda 3i Sport MY BUILD LOG
