Snowy8171
whats up guys. i posted a while ago and my mids and high amp was the problem. my question is how should i go about setting gain for my system with dd1+. my front component set is rated at 140watts rms at 4ohms my amp can do 200watts rms at 4ohms. headunit clean to 38 out of 40 on 40hz and 1khz using the dd1+ and the 0db 1khz tone i can set the gain to right before clipping and voltage is right around 28.4volts. that voltage is equal to right around 195watts rms give or take. so my question is should i just use the 0db tone and set it to voltage to get it close to the speakers rating. even doing it the way in the manual with `1db of overlap i was at around 27volts should i not worry about voltage? any input would help. thanks if it helps, front set is morel hybrid 602 amp is mosconi as 200.
AaronT
You don't use a dd1 That is a very specific tool to find your max clean RMS it's going way under you use a voltmeter everything else is all the same same procedures until you get to the back of the MU dial in a specific voltage based on the impedance of your speakers
AaronT
But I don't think 60 watts cover is going to hurt them. Your looking for 23.66 volts for 140 watts at 4ohm
MrSkippyJ
I would still use the DD-1 to set everything first though, that way you can set everything upstream up correctly too. Then back off your amp settings some, but I agree I don't think 60 watts is going to hurt anything. Especially if you set it at +0 overlap. Especially if you set it at +0 overlap. will do. its 140watts rms each side. and the amp can do 200watts rms a channel. forgot to add that. so use dd1 to find clean headunit volume, but just use the 0db track the whole way through with? AaronT
Yes, dd1 up to the point of setting amp. Then use voltmeter. Also check clean hu volume with both 1khz and 400hz and set volume at whichever one clips first

No one expects everyone to read every bit of something a person types. We have same goal, to help others figure audio issues out. Information is better served repeated anyway. That way when a few people advise the same way, the op sees it's not just opinion, but rather the way you should do it.
