Clunker
Greetings, this is my first post here, although I am not a complete newbie it has been quite some time since I have done a large build A few key points. 2001 Chevy Tahoe, making a huge build for my fiance who has cancer as a surprise. Going over kill. I own a car repair shop in Montana so I will be doing the work myself. The details for electrical are as follows... 2 Rockford T2 13's - 2000RMS a piece. Morel 3 way components in the front. AudioControl D-4.800 Orion HCCA 5000.1 Mechman 500 Amp Billet ( Plan to run at 15v) x2 Yellow Top Subs in custom ported boxes. Was thinking about running 2 Yellow Top batteries since my parts supplier can get them cheap and I will get a 5 year warranty, big 3 with 0 gauge. Two 0 gauge wiring kits, 1 from each battery to an Orion HCCA 5000.1 at 1 ohm. And an AudioControl D-4.800. The Orion typically has a birth sheet of 5550 RMS at 12.6v but I have seen how underratted it's 3000.1 counter part can be from Williston Labs. I would estimate it could run cleanly at 7000 RMS at 15v? I am not sure, I need insight on this. Then I would estimate the 4 channel would it near 550 RMS clean. So about 7500 RMS clean? Need insight on this as well, heh... I am trying to gauge(lol) if this electrical will be sufficient. I am doing basic math, 7500 RMS / 15 = 500 amps then figure add 100 more for trucks usage for a total of 600 amps. Then I wager running the system at 75% would leave me at 450 amps. Which is all well and good, but that's assuming the truck isn't idling. The alternator is rated at 200 amps at idle, so at idle will this set up be good enough to play at 75% for 5 minutes? I think I may be over rating the amplifiers too. Not sure. Apologies for a lot of text, trying to ask the right questions. FWIW I have about an 8000.00 budget. MrSkippyJ
Are you saying run a 15v system or charge at 15v? Clunker
This particular alternator requires a stand alone regulator that is adjustable between 13-19v. I was going to run the regulator near 15v.
AaronT
Go 4/0 from front of vehicle to rear Batts Other than that it's gtg
AaronT
I'd Also recomend , since Overkill and being a very special special gift, Instead of a hcca 5k, do dual Rockford t2500-1bdcps. Check out Steve Meade's Dyno video on them.. I'd also use a better AGM than optima. But that's not such a big deal with a 500 amp alt
MrSkippyJ
agreed with all above. F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69
AaronT
You might as well use the 16-inch version of the Rockford t2
Clunker
What about 2 Kicker 44KXA2400.1 amps? Those RF are nice but expensive. I am not the biggest fan of the Yellow Tops, but since I my business has a deal with a supplier that makes the incentive appealing.
AaronT
Those kickers aren't bad but they have no place in a build like you're doing
Clunker
I could adjust my budget and build. Is the topology just better? It doesn't seem like there's really any amps in this RMS range...
