Subwoofer setup help

Hello, I was hoping I could get some advise/opinions on the current sub build I’m thinking of going with. 

2 of these 10” subs:

With 2 of these amps:

My main question is if it’s overkill to get 2 of those amps? Or if there is a cheaper way to power both subs as the amps are quite expensive, especially for 2 of them.

What is your main goal? Sound quality, or SPL, what vehicle do you drive? and what type of music do you listen to?

 

Either way I think there are better options for cheaper. 

 

If you're wanting to add two 10" subs you would only need one amp, and you could get one that puts out more power than 2 of those alpines for cheaper than 1.

I drive a 2013 Honda Accord EXL. I listen to all types of music: Rap, hip hop, heavy metal, alternative etc...

 

as far as main goal, I guess a mixture of sound quality and lots of intense bass. I’ve only had one other system before and it was 2 type R 12” subs. Very intense bass but the 12” subs didn’t keep up with some of my music, that’s why I’m going for 10” subs this time. I definitely like the alpine type R subs.

 

what amplifier would you suggest to run 2 of them that can push them close to the RMS limit of 750 each.

There's a lot of choices out there. I figured, you'd spend about $900 on 2 of those alpine amps. 

Those are dual 4 ohm subs right? So you can wire them down to give an amp 1 ohm and use 1 amp.

I'd suggest either the 1500 or 2000 RMS SFB amps from sundown... After impedence rise you're not going to see the full 1500 from any 1500 RMS amp. My subs are rated at 750rms each. I went with a 2K... Could/should? of went with a 3K.

Cheaper but still puts out more than rated... Just don't run them under 1 ohm.

 

Have you listened to other systems that weren't Alpine/kicker/Sony brands? I'm not knocking them... I had a few alpines and a few kickers 15-20 years ago but for the same price there are lots of amazing subs out there, and for what you were willing to spend you could really get a great system.

 

If you look at the down4sound website under subwoofers, I'd suggest at least glancing over the ampere, deaf bonce, DC, Wolfram and sundown brand subs.

 

I personally would be happier with a SFB2000 amp and 2 Sundown SA 10" subs, over the alpines....and that would cost less than the Alpine amp and subs too... 

 

In the last month or so I've bought 3 amps, 2 boxes, 4 subs, 4 awg, 0 awg, and in the middle of ordering a HO alternator... All because I thought I'd be happy with good quality high name brand gear but on the lower end of power... 

 

Now I say better to start off as big as you're willing to go so you don't waste money in the long run.

Thanks for all of your input and information. I’m looking into the sundown subs now, they are a bit more expensive then the alpine subs but the amplifiers are cheaper.

What amp kit and ported box would you suggest with this combination? Anything else you would suggest purchasing before I pay someone to install it all?
