1point21gigawatts Posted July 22, 2020 Report Posted July 22, 2020 That subwoofer is almost 100 pounds, like 93 pounds. And the mounting depth is like 12.5 inches. There’s no way your subwoofer has a displacement of 0.28 cube when a 15” zv5 has 0.25 cube of displacement. “How can we help you?” “And don’t forget to tell them that the customer isn’t always right.”
1point21gigawatts Posted July 22, 2020 Report Posted July 22, 2020 I design subwoofer enclosures on here a bunch. Here is one I designed for a guy on here that is flexing the whole front part of his truck on only 3k rms on 2 15s. Not the front of the glass, but the whole engine back all the way to the bumper. Fast forward to 1 minute and 45 seconds in. 15” Skar evl’s on a taramps smart 3. And no, I didn’t design using manufacturing recommendations. Because if I did, it wouldn’t hit as hard. Watch. Of course any enclosure I design would hit way harder than that one. This is what I do dude. What kind of amp? So I know the rms output for port velocity. And subwoofer displacement on either of them 2 subwoofers you switch from don’t have .28 cubic foot of displacement. One is a U series and the other is a zv3, which is the about the same a the U series. I had a 12” zv3 before. A while back. Recently I had a zv5 15 and it was .25 cubic foot of displacement. And that zv5 stood way taller and way wider than that zv3. Hey The amp im using is a wolfram c2400. Capable of 2600 and more rms at 1 ohm. Its d2 wired at 1ohm. After rise maybe 2000 or so rms And yes the displacement is .28 on my zv3. My zv3 d2 12 is a custom built sub with spider from x series 2 and zv5. The basket is new as well and huge hence the 10.5 depth. The cone is also the upgraded spl cone. The fs if this sub since im using an x series spider has decreased significantly to 34hz or so..the displacement is confirmed by sundown to be .28. Thats what they told me. If your zv5 15 was .25 then this confuses me. I would think your 15 would be more like .34 or something... The u12 is .21 and its much shorter in depth. Anyways just do this use .25 as an average sub displacement. .03 isnt gonna make or break anything

IMG_1685.movUnavailable Hey i dont know if its cuz im on my cell trying to view this or if it got removed but the video u linked its not playing. Maybe send a direct link instead? Regarding the displacement. I think either sundown accidently wrote .25 for your 15 or they r wrong with telling me .28 However the u12 displacement is listed as .21. That has a smaller motor and magnet is like 30 lbs and 6 inch depth vs my custom zv3 12 which is like 55 or so lbs and 10.5 depth and a much bigger motor and magnet and wider than your zv5s too Let me call sundown tech tmrw and confirm this displacement issue.
1point21gigawatts Posted July 22, 2020 Report Posted July 22, 2020 But the 15” zv5 I had was 93 pounds and 12.5” in depth and only 0.25 cubes of displacement, but whatever. The spiders have nothing to do with displacement, it’s the motor and the basket. But again, whatever. I can’t send a link of the video because it’s a video off my phone. Not something I found online. He texted me the video and I saved it. Let me post it again and see if it works. Hold up. “How can we help you?” “And don’t forget to tell them that the customer isn’t always right.”
