Boon Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Hmm it does indeed sound like the voice coil bottoming out and yet a sealed box should be pretty good at controlling that kind of thing. Could just be your spiders getting soft or it could be the subs starting to come apart. Turn down the gain a little? Quote 10.x volts fo' life!

Anyways... can i fix this? is this just a simple weld? or do i have to send it back to polk? That part that you have in your hand is called a tinsel lead and it although the popping noise probably happened from over-excursion causing the voicecoil to tap the backplate also putting too much stress on the tinsel lead and snapping it......you'll need to send it in to polk for warranty repair if they offer it....I dunno I have never ran anything from polk before. aznboi3644 Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 tinsel lead breaking is caused from user error/ overexcursion. Warranty may not cover that....I'm not sure though Quote
