Guest Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 That Kicker cvr i bought a while back, i want to see if it works. i got my old technics receiver, like 8 ohms stable, sub 4. could i play a 50hz tone quietly through the receiver to the sub without fucking anything up?
AI James Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 some recievers will be able to take the load, but i think those technics will overload and shut itself off, as i used to do it all the time with my old one
ISO Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 Just start with the volume all the way down and turn it up slowly untill the reciever shuts off. The sub might still make some wierd mechanical niose's testing it that way, nothing permanent. Isobaric - Refers to the practice of coupling two drivers together to make them act as one. Guest Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 lol i def dont want it to shut off, i blew my old aiwa one by blasting it. Bad cooling design + 200wrms amp = smoked something inside. the technics amp is my dads and he uses it to power the outside speakers during parties, so i DEFINENTLY dont want to have it turn off randomly

BigPimpin91 Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 I just had my 18 hooked to mine. It is an S8 Coil though. You can do it just don't get too happy with the volume knob. BigPimpin91's Banging Music
