Which Setup Is Louder?

Recommended Posts

I dont think you will need all those upgrades for over 500 watts rms. I think you could probably get almost 1000 watts out of the stock electrical with just the Big 3. Unless you know something wrong about your electrical system that we dont.

i read somewheres that over 600 watts RMS you need a bigger alt. Im not sure but i think i have a 90 amp alt right now.

Depending on the efficiency[sp?] of your amp,

if it is A/B and 60%, you can safely get [90x.6] x voltage [12] atleast 650 watts

If it is D and 80%, you can safely get [90x.8] x [12] atleast 860 watts

If your voltage is 14.4 you could get over 1000 watts if it is class D

I have a 110 amp alt with 105 amps of current draw on my sytem [multiple amps] and I get some headlight dimming, but the voltage never goes below 12 volts.

Current Setup:

Factory HU with LOC

mids/highs-Insignia components

Sub- E8 in bass tube

Amp- sae-1200d

Show Setup:

HU-Sony MEX-1HD (brings massive respect for sony)

fronts - Infinity Kappa perfect comps

rears- Infinity Kappa coax

mid/high amp - Autotek 5600

Subs - 2 RE SE 15's

Sub Amps - 2xSAE-1200D

Box - 5cubes sealed

Wire- Lots of Knu 1/0

What box are you using now? you could get a large boost in output from a well designed ported box.

Are you currently running sealed or ported?

and I wouldn't chance running 400rms each to type e's, i know type r's can take more than rated but i don't know about the type e's.

thats the box im currently using, and i wouldnt try running two type E's at 800 watts RMS ^_^ i would get some 400 watt RMS subs which im browsing around for now. Any suggestions?

Im thinking about 2 type R's but would i be safe with 1000 watts RMS if i did the Big 3 and kept all the rest of my electrical stock?

First, ditch the box as soon as you can. Second, depending on your budget, I love my CVR's. I abuse the crap out of them and they still show me unconditional love.

DC level 2 or 3 would do good with 800 watts per pair.

Alpine type r's would do great in the right box

The subs you pick will be important, but nowhere near as important as getting a good ported box.

Im sorry to thread jack, but have a question: Im currently on a 140amp alt and will be using a AQ2200D amp, if I follow your calculations of 140x.8x12=1344. Does this mean I will have to upgrade to more batts, or a new alt? My idle amps is 14.1-14.4 will my current setup at full blast. I have not done the BIGIII yet (I will of course) what are my options here?

I love my staffie :good:

So anti FACEBOOK it isn't even funny

based on what i've read around the net ( so i might be wrong) i would say ur gonna need a new alt. More batteries wont do you any good, it will just add more stress to your already overpowered alt. So i would go with the new alt and the Big 3 and replace your current batt with maybe an optima yellow top.
