It will not run on low voltage. Those amps will shutdown to prevent any damage.

Also some of those old school amps required the RCA's to be pluged in to function too.

If it does it in your friends truck there might be an issue with the amp. Does it smell toasted?

When you add power to it can you hear (this is going to sound funny) the powersupply sing? <--- High pictched electrical squeel. My M50 did that before it died.

Hey this is going to be a bit off topic but.... my logitech z-5500 power supply seems to be "singing" too.. I unplugged all the speakers and turned off the subwoofer and the back where the plate amp is seems to be playing the song. So does it mean my Z-5500 is gonna die? It's been doing it for a while.

lol sorry Eric for postiing this in ur thread

Singing Power supplies usually means its on its way out... How long? Hard to tell I dont know how hard you rail your music. I had a Xtant 300.1 that lasted 2 years like that.

Just use common sense in volume control if you start getting a clipped signal at any volume pull it out ASAP before it pop's

Haven't had a chance to hook it up to a car battery, should be doing that tomorrow or friday.

Would it be ok to do a double run of 16ga wire (bout 1 foot long) for positive and same for negative to the battery to see if it turns on? Also, that RCA plug is still stuck in the jack, would that cause a problem?

Here's a pic of another switch I had a question about....
