First Meca Show Tomorrow , Just Have A Few Questions ...

Recommended Posts

So my first meca show is tomorrow, and had a few questions about how the brackets/classes work...

I have 2 12's and a memphis 1mc1000d ( 1100x1 ) Which has 2 x 40 amp fuses .. I was told by one of the guys who works for the shop thats putting on the show, who didnt know much , but said they place you by cone area and current draw.. But he told me its what fuse you had under the hood, not the fuse rating of the amp.. Another guy said the opposite..

Another thing Im looking =for a SONG to Play , for my second run, as im going to do tones for the first run.. But i dont know what tone to use.. All i know is the first note of elevator is right around peak freq for my car ... and is loud as all hell so i think ill try that on my 2 nd run.. But if anyone can find the freq of that first note of elevator ( by flo rida ) that would give me a good guess on where to start my tones .. thanks

matt

yeah meca uses fuse rating to help determine classes. if you notice, some use a higher number of low rated fuses to combine to one big fuse more or less. kinda gives them an edge. there's a link somewhere in the comp section i think about the rules and things like that

Yeah, MECA is all based off of cone area and your fuses near/on the amp.

Just like any other org., you have to know the rules to win. :)

If you happen to get into MECA more (I doubt it), then the key to winning is running the most power you can in the lowest class by using multiple fuses.

For instance, I was in S1 with a single 15" so I could run ~50 amps of total fusing. There's no limit on how many fuses you could run, so I ran 5 10 amp AGU fuses. Some guys now are using lots of 5 amp AGU's.

It can be confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. :)

Team B2, Team Audiotechnix, Team Kicker, Team XS Power, Team Sundown, Team Maxxsonics, Team DD2008 Bassrace 130-139.9 Regional and National Champion2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2012 MECA Champion (S1, SR1, S2, S3, S4, DB1) -1 DD 9510F + 2 Sundown SAZ2500's @ .7 ohm strapped=154.2 headrest, 129.2 driveby-2 DD 9510F's + 2 Sundown SAZ2500's @ 1 ohm strapped=154.0 headrest-1 DD 9512F + 2 Sundown SAZ2500's @ 1 ohm strapped=153.5 headrest, 131.1 Driveby

-2 DD 9512F + 2 B2 Zero1's @ .5 strapped= 157.0 headrest, 158.0 outlaw-1 Sundown SA-8 + 2 MB Quart 2000's=148.8 headrest, 150.6 outlaw

No i get it now.. Well some of it.. I was in as2 , but jumped to S2 just cuz i like a little better competition, which like i said i would have won but my dumbass was watching the TL instead of the rpm.. Fun show tho.. Ill post pics when i get my buddys digi cam..

O and the winner of the extreme ( or whatever class it is ) was a ford explorer , 2 solo X 18s in a wall 12k watts 155.6 or 155.4 , something like that
