How Do You Get Rid Of Distortion?

Recommended Posts

Very much understood!! I wasn't happy with 500 watts and one 12. Had to upgrade to 2000 watts and 2 15's, and a ho alt, 0 gauge cable, 2nd battery, LOL!!! Now, if he set up the gains wrong, could that be causing distortion before reaching the full potential of the amps? Or am I misunderstood, cause I don't want to point anyone down the wrong road.

same with me bro..my 1st system was 600 watts and 1 "12" and i installed it myself...and i didnt have no distortion at all..but since i removed all that and went for an upgrade with a 2000 watt amp for my subs 3 "12's".and 600 watt for my mids and highs..and let best buy installed dem 4 me...i been having that problem...

haha...i mean for having your mids and high's loud i dont think you need multiple shit loads of amps just like for your subs..yu dig?.lol..

Oh I dig, I know that it will take you more then a pair of by-9's and a 400w amp to have super clean, loud mids and highs. I push 2 4ch amps to my hand picked 3way setup. I'm pretty sure Steve runs a few amps to his front stage as well. And it's not only how much power to feed the front stage, at also matters on the quality of amp pushing them.

Just cause the deck goes to 36, doesn't mean it will still put out a clean signal at 36.

Same goes for amps, gains are not volume controls. turning it all the way up doesn't get you louder, or a clean signal.

Even if you had the amps matching the deck, all that will be thrown out the window as soon as you are short on your power supply side.

We can take it a step further and look at the speaker wires from the amp to speakers..... too small, lousy sound.

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

Oh shit, you mean I'm not supossed to mount my amp in the center console so I can use the gain to turn my shit up and down.

Shit man now that I got your approval, I'm going to mount all 3 of my amps in the center console next. :yahoo:

Just think man, total control.

I do got to remember witch ones control the subs so I got quick access to turning the subs down when the cops roll by.

Your cool man. Its alright you don't need to buy anything new.

You just need to learn and understand how to setup your stuff.

Sometimes its not easy when your not used to it. Alright

If you were around me I would show you how its done but I'm not and it can be hard to explain with all the different products on the market.

Go back and read what I said in the firs post on your thread and you will be alright.

You don't need to change your equipment.

Yup and make sure you use a bunch of amps. No gain matching required if they are turned all the way up.

Don't sweat it.

Easy way to do it without tools is to turn the gain about half and then turn your deck up till it distorts, then back it down a click or two. Then turn the amp up and listen for it to either distort or get to a point where it isn't getting any louder. The right way is to use an o-scope or a DMM

All decks will have a point where it will distort as it gets louder, My deck is 26 out of 36. If ya gonna run it hard, you have to keep it under the cut off point.
