Eskii
Distortion is the same as clipping, meaning that the top of the AC sine-wave is lost due to insufficient power. In yor case, the only reason i can think of is that the gain is turned up too much on either the H/U or the amp. Note that bass boost on an amp is good as it isolates the sub, where as most head units will amplify bass for all channels. My advice is to get rid of any bass related EQ's or boosters on the head unit and stick with gain on the sub channel... You don't want to turn up the bass boost on the HU but instead controlling your bass thru the amplifier (you don't necessarily want to use bass boost thou) Quote J. JMy CardomainFINISHED COBALT SS/SC DUAL ALTERNATOR PICS theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer

Blackedout
its a sony head unit...would it help if a change the head unit.?. What model sony? Without knowing the model, its hard to say...But I would choose a pioneer or alpine deck with 3 pairs of 6v rca preouts ANY day over a sony deck.
