sundownz
Few more tricks in this driver - there are five kinds of glue that I used to build this. Testing out some of my new ideas on assembly for high power. Three kinds of black CA for various jobs, one flexible glue for surround the basket joint, and clear epoxy to fill in the lip around the spider / around the dust cap when that is applied. Biggest thing I'm trying to determine on the glue front is if using the three different varieties of CA pays off - so I'm going to beat this thing to death and see if I can make the glue joints give out before anything else. I want to be sure it pays off before building production drivers this way since the two "non standard" CA glues cost 5x more for some odd reason. sundownz
edit: or is that epoxy in the ridges? anyways, epoxy is also the shit on maximum adhesivness Extra treatment from the spider manufacturer. These spiders are very consistent over time, same kind I use on the Nightshade Quote - Jacob Fuller - Owner, Sundown Audio - Sundown Audio on FACEBOOK - Please DO NOT PM ME -- use my email address -- [email protected]
sundownz
I fired it up a little this morning - the glue needs a tad more time to cure, though. I will let it cure until Saturday before really loading it down. 95_1500
Im not criticizing but isnt that surround kind of small? It looks to be about 1". Just caught my eye. Forevrbumpn
That actually looks like a common wide roll foam surround, dont see anything wrong with it Quote I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy. sundownz
Indeed, it is that wide - may just look narrow at that angle. sundownz
Got some specs with very little break-in time w/ the 8-layer round coil and 5 spiders: Specs in series: Re = 1.76 ohms Fs = 44.3 Hz Qes = 0.38 Qms = 14.52 Qts = 0.37 Le = 3.87 mH Vas = 20.69 L Bl = 24.40 N/A Cms = 27.67 uM/N Sens = 88.56 1w/1m A *very* usable parameter set with the full 5-spider suspension - not bad I played it at a low excursion level for just a minute or two so it's barely broken in at all - so the Fs is going to drop a bit more. I also don't have the dust cap on yet (will make a very tiny difference).
