hotshot27 Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I got a 12volt fan from walmart for under 10 bucks, plugs into ciagarette lighter, but i direct wired it by my amp, and it keeps things pretty cool Quote Current Setup: Factory HU with LOC mids/highs-Insignia components Sub- E8 in bass tube Amp- sae-1200d Show Setup: HU-Sony MEX-1HD (brings massive respect for sony) fronts - Infinity Kappa perfect comps rears- Infinity Kappa coax mid/high amp - Autotek 5600 Subs - 2 RE SE 15's Sub Amps - 2xSAE-1200D Box - 5cubes sealed Wire- Lots of Knu 1/0 SECOND SKIN
ISO Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I'm a fan of these. http://www.darvex.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Sc...Product_Count=1 The only draw back to them, they are only good up to around 2.5 inches of air flow. So they need to be mounted pretty darn close to the amp to be worth anything. Quote Isobaric - Refers to the practice of coupling two drivers together to make them act as one. CHINO11550 Posted July 12, 2008 Author Report Posted July 12, 2008 I'm no expert but you need to get over 13 volts. The more voltage = less amperage = less heat build up. The voltage is around 13.3-12.7 when im playin music, it only drops down lower than that when i let someone listen to it & really turn it up. ISO Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 Man I don't have anymore advice except get your voltage up higher and try and mount some fans in there. See if you can come up with a better ground circuit. I'm tapped out. Quote Isobaric - Refers to the practice of coupling two drivers together to make them act as one. Boon Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I'm no expert but you need to get over 13 volts. The more voltage = less amperage = less heat build up. Only if you have a regulated power supply in your amp. If it's unregulated, current stays the same, you just increase the power output by increasing the voltage input What impedance are you running the amp at? Quote 10.x volts fo' life!

ISO Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 (edited) Only if you have a regulated power supply in your amp.If it's unregulated, current stays the same, you just increase the power output by increasing the voltage input What impedance are you running the amp at? I was thinking I should point out that some companies use a unregulated/regulated power supply in their amps to make sure they make the minimum rated power under most circumstances. Examples would be Rockford Fosgate and its INDIGO circuit and Zapco are 2 rite off the top of my head. Another thing to think about is 4,000 watts in reality is a very large amount of power and if I was to guess Memphis most likely uses a similar system to help garuntee that that amp attempts to make rated power.
