When i had it wired into the system my voltage would take longer to come back up. =[ But when i took it off it came right back up, of course this was a stock alt. I never got a chance to use it one my 170 amp alt. I have used a 5 farad cap and it helped a hell of a lot. So just try with it on and off, if it doesn't make a huge difference sell it for some $$.
