251customs Posted July 31, 2008 Report Share Posted July 31, 2008 right now my setup is 4 btl 18s old ones dual 1s i have a powerbass asa 1000.1 on each woofer at .5 ohms i have 4 kenetiks 2400s and the power draw is crazy i guess cause the amps are at .5 ohms. but my question is i have 4 more pb 1000.1s that i can use and strap 2 amps on each woofer at 2 ohms would that bring my power draw down since im increasing the ohms that they are playing at or will i be in the same boat since im doubling the amps and which combo would be louder....electrical system.... 240 atl (nations alternator) 4 runs of 0 awg to the back batterys two red tops under hood and the big three is done i can hit 9 volts at idle at about 2 min into a song at full tilt maybe this is normal???? let me know oh yeah and i have a maxxlink i can use if we go with the 8 1000.1s.... its all in a 02 dodge ram in the camper shell with the window blowthrough 02 dodge ram quad cab 4.7 pioneer 9800bt pioneer 5700 dvd(yes 2 headunits 5700 for dvd only) 1 re xxx 15 (new style in center console) 4 18" fi btls in snugtop 12 mb quart 6.5s original ones not maxxsonics (kicks, 3 in each front door 2 in each back door) quart 4" dash sp 2 soundstream xxx6500s 1 pd asa1000.1 for the xxx15 4 pb asa600.4 highs 4 7" screens 1 15" flipdown 2 red tops 16 g31 yellow tops playstation 2 4 8x11 p.a. horns under truck (music plays through them) db 80.2 for horns 2 underglow kits (1 flex kit in fenderwells) 24" martin bros vampires Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Boon Posted August 1, 2008 Report Share Posted August 1, 2008 8 amps at 1 ohm each will give you the same current draw as 4 amps at 0.5 ohm, theoretically... obviously you'll draw more current though with 8 amps If you're getting drops that bad you really need to sort your electrical... 9v after 2 minutes is crazy, I can run 4.5kw for like 10 mins off a single 105Ah battery... 10.x volts fo' life!
