1997PAU Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 First off, I own a 1997 Park Avenue Ultra and I am very satsified with the stock sound system. I just wish it had a little more bass. I was thinking i could tap into the wires going into the amp in the trunk and use some line out converters. My only concern is that the stock head unit may be cutting out the bottom end frequencies to protect the stock speakers and if i install subwoofers it will end up sounding like shit. So, is this the case? and if it is; will installing a new headunit be practical with the ultra's premium sound system? Thanks in advance for reading Brad
RamenNoodles Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 If you splice into the stock wiring, you will not be pushing any power to a subwoofer. Diablo Audio Technologies Fi Car Audio Ascendant Audio
Chode69 Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 hook up a LOC (line out converter), run your amp power, ground and remote wires and connect the RCAs to the line out converter to an amp (not the factory one an aftermarket one) and BAM bass... just gotta get the wiring schematik of your radio and find your speaker wires (left rear and right rear or vice versa with the front) and T tap into the speakers with the LOC NoFearX18 said: Nick will bang just about anything.....LMAO....pun intended On 4/13/2010 at 9:51 AM, meade916 said: i was like DAMN, Chode is hardcore! he makes james look like a friendly person LOL! trainman0978 said: I dont know who is worse with the buttholes Chode or Big P... honda Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 I suggest using a processor like JL clean sweep or what I am currently using right now with my stock HU, an MTX re-Q. Use something like this instead of a regular LOC becuase these will actually eliminate some of your stock HU automatic equalizer which cause bass to decrease when volume is turned up. AWESOME suggestion. the clean sweep was really designed for stock radios. honda Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 thanks for all the replies, i plan on installing some subs soon!and one more question: can i wire the after market amps remote turn on wire to the stock head unit? Well I don't know if this is the best for you but I am also using my stock HU in my set-up. I am using the ignition as remote. So when i turn on the car, the amps would turn on right away and will always be on us long as the car is on (amps stays on even if you turn off your HU). You can then add a kill switch on that remote wire if you want to turn off you're amps when the car is on. It would also be a good idea to add a fuse as close as possible to the origin of current. Plus the ignition has a lot more current than a regular remote-out from a head unit. This is good if you're turning on multiple amps as in my case, three amps in the trunk and they come on with no problem once I start the car.
