i used birch on this box i recently built ...

and the wood doesnt split as easy (if ur not pre drilling ur holes)

it looks kick ass if u were to stain or sumthing...

and IMO its stronger

and one other thing i had noticed .... when i made my cuts agn IMO the ends met up to make a strong sturdy corner... i thought mdf just didnt feel solid as my birch box was ..... (unless u got like 3 layers )

Whoa whoa whoa lol I am using what I use, particle board...doing double baffle IFFFF I can find someone with a good router that can teach me, if not I'm gonna do a regular with inch thick particle..

inch thick should be damn strong, here are pics of my "uninstall" I'm sweating BALLS, it's so hot here, it's like vegas...certainly understand missery...(missouri)...like winter one day, like the sahara the next...

Ok, total count, 2 15" L7's....a sturdy ass 3/4ths particle box which is up for sale if someone really wants it...sealed of course....heh...asking around 80-100..I'll go 80 if you want to pay most of the shipping..which will be alot

My 2607D amp and a lightning amp which also works.....

if anyone wants to help with a small problem, my speakers give out an odd loud squealing noise on that amp, it does it with the one I have now too but it's not as bad, IMO though I think it's because the lightning audio has more power putting out so obviously, more power, more disturbance that I can hear..

The reason we suggest MDF over particle board is for 2 reasons.

1. It is way stronger then particle

2 it won't leak like particle will.

If you are dead set on using it still, then at least resin the whole inside to make it air tight.

Ok, but don't you have to use like L angles and crap for MDF, you can't screw at all cause it breaks up real easy right?...

Not sure how big it is, let me go and measure...

length is 40 and 1/4th inch....

It doesn't break up as easy as particle board.

Think of MDF as particle board on steroids.

Well then it is settled, I always heard mdf is denser, but had a fear that it would break up...I'll make sure and do a tiny predrill hole before doing any screws...and make sure liquid nails is on every flat surface, then a bead along the inside corners.......problem is that i have NO equipment..I'm in an apartment...

the plan is to go to home depot, buy two of their big MDF boards, and then have all my specs ready for cutting...and then tell that POS that he better cut them accurate or I get a refund..it's simple

you have a wall saw for complete precision, and I'm paying for the cuts...'

then the final problem, getting some kind of...well, router of some type to do things you know...double baffle it maybe?...but no router, and they sure as hell won't do it...no power drill so I gotta buy one lol...

a router is damn expensive..

Dude seriously, it just seems like you keep trying to cut corners. Going loud is not all about buying nicer stuff. Take the time and do things right. That particle board will suck for 2 15's ported. And to be honest, you might want to do some sort of support inside the box like 2 big dowel rods in the middle of the two subs or double baffle the sub box.

Just dont try and cut corners everywhere on your build man, taking your time and doing things right is half of the battle.

You're right that's why I decided to port and why I came here for advice so ease up just a little, and thanks for the advice...

I just don't have the equipment to build said box...I have to get cuts from some place, and then stick it together you know, I don't even have a box plan...So I'm waiting for someone to help out once I get measurements of the trunk..

I need a box plan, then I need to figure out a way to do the box or boxes in something other than carpet...

I cut corners cause I'm not quite a "bass head" yet...See my box, I took time..it's amazing to everyone except true bass people lol...so you know...rocking it in the small pond here..

another option is having someone build the box for you, you could pick it up if it were nearby?

if you don't have the tools getting them might be more expensive than paying someon to build it.

if you're in Nor cal i'm sure David would be happy to build you a box for a fee (he can chime in here too)
