How big of an amp begins to actually start taking some decent power off the Alt? i'm going to be installing a kenwood KAC-6404 with my stock electrical, would this effect anything? or should everything be ok with such a small amp?

i think a 100 - 600 watt amp wouldnt take any power of your alt..just your battery thoug....but if your going over 1000 watts then that would neccesary need a bigger alt or extra's battery(s)

WRONG, some cars hella dim with a measly 400 watts

My brother caddy dimmed with only 400wrms

and it had a 140amp alt.....just goes to show you don't know until you find out what your cars idle pull with everything on(AC, headlight, etc.) before stereo.

Just happens that his model of caddy had a high idle load.
