theterminator
so im running a 1000w rms. I have a HC800 as my primary battery. I have about 14ft of 4ga (kicker wire)going to the amp. I was testing the voltage at the battery and the with the volume all the way up my volts never dropped under 13v. Then i tested at the amp. And the volts dropped as low as 12.3v. Is this normal or can i fix this problem?

theterminator
So you think running 0ga to another HC800 in the trunk and then to the amp will fix this problem.
Dale
So you think running 0ga to another HC800 in the trunk and then to the amp will fix this problem. It'll certainly help. That 14ft wire is what's killing you...the resistance is too high.
missinglink
So you think running 0ga to another HC800 in the trunk and then to the amp will fix this problem. Nowing what kind of car you need the advice on will help us too. If you are adding a batt try one a little bigger than a HC800 like the 1400 or their 1800 as your main if you have room. If not in back would be fine also. As for wire if you are gonna use 1/0 gauge from your battery to your amps you should keep it the same size from your alternator to your battery as well. I use same size wire for power and ground keeps things easy I feel. As for the voltage drop pending on the vehicle we can help you out as well . I have upgraded the big 3 already with 0 ga wire. I was gonna put a 1400 under the hood but it was too big so i had to settle for the 800.
missinglink
I would add a 1400 or an 1800 in the back then. Should help keep things up with the extra storage. If you bench charge the battery before you install it your alt will not have to work as hard to get it charged , and will reduce the initial strain from the alt to the new batt.
