I noticed when I swapped my JVC 2.5 volt deck out for my new Kenwood Excel 5.0v I had a lil sub thump when I turned it on (being that it was grouned with the stock wire harness) I ended up finding a better chassis ground behind the dash and poof no more pop. not saying it will work for you but it did for me cannot hurt to try.
