Have you tried connecting a completely different drive to your computer and see if it does the same thing? External Hard Drive maybe? Just trying to isolate the problem. Chevyboy, that hard-drive looks like a good deal. Good brand too. As for your fan, that really baffles me. I also have AMD, but never seen anything like this.
