David Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 that box should be fine IMO for the power they are gonna see, I bet it hammers the lows real good, the upper end is gonna roll off kinda fast with that tuning tho. Quote

usmc7980 Posted August 25, 2008 Author Report Posted August 25, 2008 This is what I have been figuring on a new box design, let me know what yall think. It's the same size as the one I have now but subs up port back, different portzizes and placement. Specs are in the picture Quote
andym85 Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 i would tune closer to the 35 rather than then 30 b/c like david said, you are gonna loose the higher notes which is where a lot of bass is.... but make the box a little larger than recommended b/c of the power they are gonna be seeing... and yes my calc is accurate if you use it right...trust me...i put way to much time into making sure that its pretty damn close to everything else out there...and if you find two two tuning calculators that are exactly the same then i would be really suprised... Ha, i was just gonna ask you for some advice, but you answered it already. I used your calculator and started building it this afternoon. I finally got the numbers I wanted, but like a dumbass I left the plans I drew up of the calc's numbers at work. So I only built the sides and the bottom and left the top off so I can do the port tomorrow. I tuned it at 33.5 so hopefully it will sound pretty good. The port will be 20x5 but I cant remember the length. Thanks for a good Excel program by the way, it helped alot. I'll take pictures in the morning. Quote
usmc7980 Posted August 26, 2008 Author Report Posted August 26, 2008 Hey amatt85 one question for ya. Circled in yellow is the desired port length, and circled in red is the dimensions it spit out, so do I just have a port that goes straight back or does it have a turn up anywhere? The paint picture is what I think it looks like Screen shot of your calculator My interpretation Quote
andym85 Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 straight back...but that is one of those lengths that confuses me (see the 'gray area' box that says 18-23)...depends on how u look at it...like if you consider the 3/4" thickness of the wood to be a 3/4" turn...its really hard to explain on the internet...i usually keep the lenghts of the port either greater than or less than the gray area range....i know...u are probably confused now...lol... Ahh, the grey area now I get it I noticed if I did anywhere between 18-23 the L1 didn't change but the tuning did. I ain't gonna build anymore boxes, shit makes my head hurt. I'm one of those people that will be thinking about why i does that for a week now Quote

usmc7980 Posted August 26, 2008 Author Report Posted August 26, 2008 well anyways thanks again, I hope this turns out good Quote
