Resin isn't just for strength. Mdf breathes and when you resin the inside or outside or both it helps to completely seal the box off from getting air into it other than the port. When I resined the outside of my box the score jumped up .2 db by just doing that. Also the resin on the outside helps the airflow over it better, but just doing the inside will help the box from breathing. If you got it handy I would say use it. If not on his box then do so on your own. Every little bit helps in the game of dbs.

Yeah i use it in all my boxes to make sure it is all sealed up as well. Besides there is no such thing as overkill! Looks great!

finished building lucas' box.... again this box is strong... itll be like concrete after the resin

heres a pic of the dowel the supports the sub, and the other two screwed to it

finished besides paint/stain and 3/4" roundover for port

Tomorrow and Tuesday I'll be building my box and finishing Lucas's

been a busy bee... broke a plastic clamp so i still have the outer port wall to put on plus two 45s.... but its looking good

i tried to keep all the glue off the wood so i can stain the front and back so im happy with that too... looks clean on the outside...almost nice enough to not even stain it

im not very happy with the cuts i got from my wood cutter but i got it to work... and he forgot to roundover some pieces but for all i know i might build another box after this to maximize the subs once i get a feel for them

1st sub arrives tuesday!!

Both boxes look good man. I think that you'll be happy with the SX's. I had a single one off of 1200 watts doing 139's in my Escort with a trunk. Two off of the amp that you're using should shine quite well in the car that you have. yeah i know both boxes look pretty similar but strength wise... they are the strongest to date without using resin that ive made... i cant wait to hear the [email protected] in the eclipse... should really help the lows going from 3@33hz

ive spent many days comtemplating between 2 12" re sx or 2 12" aq hdc3... went with the sx cause its much happier with 2200w... i think id need the aq3500d to satisfy the hdc3s

ive also never seen the "re" for a dual 4 ohm re sx... since all the specs are on the dual 2 ohm...

so im hoping its like the re se and a dual 4ohm is actually 2.8ohm.... thus the amp will see .7ohm which will help counter my box rise

broke a 1/8" wood bit last night too so cant finish til later today... its moving along...slowly
