Ohm Question

i was wondering what is the difference between having 2 dual 2ohm sub wired to .5 ohms off one amp. vs having 2 2ohm subs wired to 1ohm off to amps (amp is a sundown 3000d and 2 fi btls) besides the fact that your going to get a little more output from .5 ohms

Thats about the only difference.. Other than the amp getting hotter, and the distortion getting worse..

BTW, You can't get those subs to 1 ohm

Having them at 1 ohm will make your amp happier than having it a .5 ohms. It will make the amp last longer because it doesn't have to heat up so much. And did you ever reply to my last PM?

EDIT: Footlongsam, you can get those subs at 1 ohm. They are dual 2 ohm, just parallel them.

You cant get two dual 2 ohm subwoofers to run off 1 amp at 1 ohm.

Parallel = .5 ohms.

parallel/series = 2 ohms.

series = 8 ohms

The only way you are getting a 1 ohm load off two 2 subwoofers is if they are either dual 4 ohm, dual 1 ohm, or single 2 ohm coil configurations.
