Jared420 Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 i have a pair of 10'' cvrs 300 rms 600 max each ... i had been running them at 250 rms a piece for about 6 months and one day one just stopped working. anyone have any idea whats wrong with the sub or what caused it? i checked it and power is reaching the sub but the sub does not move make noise or do anything. i thought when a sub gets blown or whatever happened it at least moves and makes scratching or popping sounds? i just dont understand why when hooked up and getting power it does not show any reaction 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
Boon Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Probably snapped a tinsel lead or burnt right through the voicecoil. Disconnect the amp and check the resistance across the sub. 10.x volts fo' life!

Guest Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 press down on the sub, if it doesnt move you most likely locked it up or over-excursioned it. i dont understand how you couldve done this when you were underpowering them unless you had the gain's cranked or bassboost up. but yea, put a DMM onto the speaker terminals on the sub and see if it reads something, if it doesnt, the speaker is blown.

Guest Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 2 things, never use bassboost (i like to call it the Clipping Knob) and you need to tune the gain on the amp correctly instead of putting it at 1/2, or 1/4th etc.
