yeah shine them up real good, then insert the 1/0 into the connectors, then i would solder the inside where the wire was placed in both connectors, then fasten them to each other, then i would also run a solder line across where the two connectors joined, then wrap them up with some tape and loom (just make sure they are protected from grounding out. thats the most important thing "which you already know im sure".

and you're welcome again. :)

bangin - i like your idea. it's like a combination of all of the above steps. i'm so tired out but i will make sure to get that done - probably tomorrow if not saturday. i like the way you're thinking about it.

yes, i do already know that :) thanks though because it is REALLY important. time to fire up the BIG solder iron. (my dad owns it idk what its for but the thing is huge)

yeah man to get the Best connection going that route, imo that would be the best way to go about it. that is what i personally would do myself if i was in you're situation..

good luck on the build btw bro.

Go to your local electrical wholesalers, take 2 small zip ties with you. Buy a 50mm^2 (don't know imperial) copper joining tube. Bare about 2/3" of each cable then put a zip tie around the loose copper and pull it as tight as you can. Push the cable in from each end, sliding the zip tie along it as you go (helps you get all the strands in, see)

Clip the zip-tie off then push the cable in that last little bit and make sure it stays there.

Then go grab whatever the shop has for doing hex crimps - most of them will let you borrow it for a minute if you bought the crimp there. Then throw a solid ass hex crimp on every bit of the copper tube and tape that bitch up. You can use heatshrink if you want it to be really tidy.

The join will be electrically like welding the cables together... if you ask really nicely and they have a hydraulic crimper you can put in a crimping die thats a little too small for the tube (after crimping it once with the proper size) and crimp it again with that - these things put so much force on the crimp that the strands and the crimp fuse together into a single lump of copper. Just make sure the crimp doesn't break apart, which can happen with dodgy dies or if you're just unlucky.
