Little Box Build, My Attempt At Seamless Carpeting, Thanks To Drdb

So, one of my biggest customers, some dude up north who runs a stereo shop thru his garage, usually has me do his custom boxes. I don't take pic's of them all, I used to in the beginning, but I gave up, always doing crunch time on his boxes.

This one is a single L5 12" going in a Semi truck, under the bed in the back.

On this design the port fires in phase with the woofer, I guess the guy wanted a "quiet" box that will not have any port noise, and just sound overall good, this design here came to mind.

I already tested it with a Sound stream Exact 12" with a square sub to sound sub adapter, and it sounded great, was pounding harder than my 10" tline in my truck, and the 12" I just had in my truck last week for testing.

So I know the box will be appreciated for over all sound quality, and output

And the carpeting, well, a couple weeks ago Chris- DrDB, showed me a trick to carpet a box with no seams

The carpeting he showed me looks so good, and easy, I tried it on this box, and I did pretty good, but I started off wrong, so I have a wrinkle on the sides, almost mirror imaged. But I think the next time I do it, I will have it down correctly

This batch of MDF wasnt fully soaked thru with resin/glue whatever they use, or wasnt pressed together with enough pressure when making the MDF sheets

I split every piece of wood that I had pilot drilled, and, I had to back out a few screws, and Dayum, the wood would mushroom upwards

I was so pissed, so I really had to use extra glue, and seal this bitch up good

As MDF jumped up another $2 a sheet in the last 2 weeks alone, I just gotta go to Hughes Lumber and buy the good shit for a couple $$ more

Its very loud and solid, I used a Sound Stream old school exact subwoofer, with about 350rms to it

Got my ear and nose tickled, was louder than my other 12" and 10" subs I been using

to bad this isnt MY box

based on listening, from rock to rap, back to techno, I would assume frequency response was pretty flat from like high 20's- 28hz- 60 hz

So I would say it was over all good listening

gives me an idea for a future design
