ok, i just picked up this bad ass Kenwood last week. (KDC-X979).. i'm trying to find out if the Kenwood KCA-iP500 iPod® Control Interface will work with this unit. i have been trying to find a list of head units it works with, but to no avail, i am lost.

Dolby Pro Logic II:

Dolby Pro Logic II processing reproduces any 2-channel source (even FM radio) into 5.1-channel surround sound, and outputs the audio through the unit's 5.1-channel, 5-volt preamp outputs. When in DPL II mode, you can select the Music, Movie or Matrix modes. The DPL II Music mode also has further "Fine" adjustments for Panorama (On/Off), Dimension (R3-R1/Neutral/F1-F3) and Center Width (0-7).

Audio Setup Modes:

In the main menu, you can select between two audio setup modes: Easy: gives you access to Cabin Size settings, Speaker Size Selection, Speaker Level Settings, and Call (to recall previous settings) Pro: gives you access to Crossover settings, Digital Time Alignment settings, EQ settings, Speaker Level settings, Memory (user/installer), and Call

Digital Signal Processor:

The KDC-X979's built-in DSP features the following adjustment that allow you to get optimal sound quality in every seat: Seat Position Settings: Using digital time alignment, you can adjust the output of each channel to put a particular seat (or seats) in the audio "sweet spot". You can select "Front Left", "Front Right", "Front" (both left and right), or "All" seats. Furthermore, you can enter precise distance measurements for front and rear speakers and subwoofer between 0 to 20.33 feet in 1/6-foot increments.

3-Band Parametric Equalizer:

The digital parametric equalizer lets you independently select the following EQ bands for front and rear channels:

Bass: Frequency: 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, 160Hz, 200Hz, 250Hz, 315Hz, 400Hz

Level: -9dB, -7db, -5dB, -3dB, -2dB, -1dB, 0dB, +1dB, +2dB, +3dB, +5dB, +7dB, +9dB

Q Setting: 0.25, 0.50, 1.0, 2.0

Midrange: Frequency: 500Hz, 630Hz, 800Hz, 1.0kHz, 1.25kHz, 1.60kHz, 2.0kHz, 2.50kHz, 3.15kHz

Cabin Size:

Selects one of the following vehicle sizes for best sound quality: Compact, Full size car, Wagon 1, Wagon 2, Minivan 1, Minivan 2, SUV, Minivan (long) or Off. Digital System E's + Advanced Crossover System: The Digital System E's+ Advanced Crossover system allows you to tailor your system with selectable crossover points for all channels.

You can independently set the crossover points as follows:

Front High Pass: 30Hz, 40Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 90Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, 150Hz, 180Hz, 220Hz, 250Hz or Through (no filter)

Rear High Pass: 30Hz, 40Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 90Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, 150Hz, 180Hz, 220Hz, 250Hz or Through (no filter)

Center High Pass: 30Hz, 40Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 90Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, 150Hz, 180Hz, 220Hz, 250Hz or Through (no filter)

Speaker Settings:

The Speaker Setting function tailors the System Q-EX Sound Control settings according to the type of speakers in your vehicle. You can select the following speaker sizes:

Front: O.E.M., 4", 5", 6-1/2", 6-3/4", 7", 4x6", 5x7", 6x8", 6x9", or 7x10"

Rear: None, O.E.M., 4", 5", 6-1/2", 6-3/4", 7", 4x6", 5x7", 6x8", 6x9", or 7x10"

Center: None, 2-3/4 x 1-9/16", 2", 4", 5", or 6-1/2" and over

Subwoofer: None, 6-1/2", 8", 10", 12", 15" and over

i got a pdf manual, but it dont say anything in there. well i havent found it in there at least through all the million pages it has haha..

I'm not sure if it can be used with the Ipod Interface.

All i'm seeing is ipod connection via USB.
