Plexiglass mirrors were one of the main reasons that attracted me to Steves design in the Hoopty. Keep in mind that you are gonna have to clean that mirror once in a while! Some sort of custom lighting is nice for a tunnel too.

Maybe try Lowes or Home depot for some sort of aluminum trim for the front edges.

What are your plans for the front wall?, carpet, leather, suede, paint? Mine is just regular carpet right now, but will have to change when I get my new seats in.

You know, this is another decision I have to make. Our Memphis rep cut me a bunch of decals and I originally was going to carpet the front, but now I'm thinking about doing black vinyl. The only problem is I'm worried about how to interface the black vinyl with the gray carpet inside. I think the black brace bars would pull it together, but that's the big reason I was looking for that rubber square.

And On the top of the box, over the black vinyl, is where one of my big decals would go. At least that's the plan.

Yep, the interior of the PT is interesting colors to say the least! Mine is a mix of grey and tan. New seats are black with a grey insert, and I plan to paint my new '06 console two tone grey/tan.

You could always replace your carpet with black to match the wall, then redo seats later on. Black leather seats with Memphis logo embroidered into them would be nice!

As long as you got both door mirrors, you are ok. I also added a rear camera to mine. PT is legally considered a small cargo van, so that helps, too.

Neo, are your amps getting rebuilt at Memphis? I never understood what happened to them, low voltage?

I'm assuming you're asking about metering.. The rules for the comps are usually that the system can't extend past the imaginary plane from the point on the front doors that's farthest to the rear. If a full wall is behind that plane, then it's all legal and metered just like any other car...

It wasn't a low voltage issue because I watched the voltage as I slowly turned it up with two amps running with an RCA bass knob and the car couldn't handle two of the amps. Upon powering on the other ones, one of them clipped really hard and I'm assuming it took out the other amp right above it.

The one that clipped was sent to figure out the problem and the other one smoked but still powered on and I sent that too. I didn't even have sound going through them when that happened. Thank god all four didn't burn out from that haha.

But yeah. That's the first piece of equipment that ever got 'blown' in one of my installs and I don't consider it my fault. I'm too worried about messing things up to just go balls to the wall right off the bat!

Oh...you could be right. But yeah, what you said is right too. No need for a rear view mirror or window in Indiana at least. Just the side mirrors suffice.

Yeah, I have no idea what those amps cost, but I know it wasn't cheap! Seems they get picky when there are 4 of them in there! Like 4 little children fighting for the power!
