How To Make 45 Degree Corners (ported Box)

***mods - feel free to move to another section if necessary***

just as the title says... this is a quick how-to on making 45* corners...

get a piece of material, i use 3/4" MDF.. make sure it is at least the length of the inside height of the box.

next, i use a combination square to make my cut lines at 45 degrees..

Posted Image

make sure the lines are perpendicular, of course..

Posted Image

set your blade angle at 45 degrees, and set the fence accordingly..

Posted Image

Posted Image

line the blade up with the cut lines made on the end of the piece, and lock the fence in position..

Posted Image

carefully rip the piece down, using push sticks if necessary.. the piece should now look like this..

the next step will differ, depending on the saw you are using. the saw i use only tilts the blade one way, so i have to flip the piece accordingly to make the next cut..

the piece should now look like this:

now, if the piece was longer than the internal height of the box, put it in a corner, and mark it with a pencil

***note: keep in mind, when making corners for port walls, to measure before making the insert. make sure port width stays equal from one end to the other, corner inserts may have to be made wider or thinner to keep width equal.

measure the distance from the blade to the edge of the base on your circular saw and just use a straight edge as a rip fence clamped to what your cutting with some C Clamps, it takes a little longer, but you will get the same results as you would have using a table saw if you are anal about your markings...
