Considering A Build, And Want Your Help!

Recommended Posts

wow. I failed hard, turns out when I turned the screw I knocked the power line off my power supply, thus making it look as if I killed it, silly me :P

1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Broke stock Head Unit

Stock speakers suck

-if I get a job, it gets 2 SA 8s in a 2.5cube box (roughly 2 cube with the port and woofers in)-

-oh, and a new HU and some speakers that dont suck. and possibly a new muffler and tint job (previous owners tint is smudging in the back, if you know how to get tint off a window without damaging the heating stuff, let me know!!!)-

wow i cant believe how people just wanna bash ur equipment if u dont have a "Big" name amp or subs... if i remember correctly its 20% equipment AND 80% install...i have that kole audio kx1-4000d amp and its pretty damn good for an amp and the 12's i pushed it with...never was even warm to the touch after banging for hrs straight...

looks pretty stout of an amp to me ... even fan cooled just like the RF's just scaled down ... who says u cant take a good thing and scale it down to fit other needs?

I'm not really laughing at the amp, just pointing out that you're running a MONSTER of a sub, which was originally designed as a competition SPL sub. The suspension (mostly the spiders) is extremely stiff and despite the enormous motor, it takes a solid whack of power to get up and going. I'm talking 2500wrms upwards. The ratings don't mean fish, that amp will probably push no more than 1200wrms @ 1 ohm. So after impedance rise you have like 700w and the MT is just going to sit there. It'll be loud(ish) but it could be so much more.

Oh well, whatever gets it going for now I guess. Just be damn sure that you don't think hmm that's quiet and mash the gain up, cos as soon as you clip that bad boy your coils will be up in smoke. There's no pole vent on those subs so if you're feeding it low power clipping you're not even moving the sub a little bit to keep it cool, you're just roasting it. Word of warning :)

and boon ill bet u it makes more than 1200rms at one ohm :acute: dont bash anyones equipment unless u have owned it first hand

what are you claiming it does with a mere 120amps of fusing.

I havent ever messed with the amp, but have took out some other kole amps and wasnt please with them to say the least.

Also because an amp has a fan doesnt nessesarily make it better.

most US amps dont have a fan in them and they are great amps, sundowns dont have a fan in them, niether do alot of other amps out there

not sure james but it pushed 2 600rms 12's very good at 4 ohms ... im not saying its the cleanest amp out there .. just saying its a pretty good amp that makes decent power...and i was just saying it is a knock off of the T seris RF's with the fan reference

14.4v x 120A x 80% efficiency (highly unlikely to be this high) = 1382wrms when the fuse pops

So how much voltage drop and loss of efficiency would it take before this amp fails to make more than 1200w?

well it has to be less than 11.8 volts on one battery and a stock alt..... i got down that far and it was fine ... so where is this 8000 watt 2 15's build at?? im beginning to think ur just some kid jackin off to some woofer porn and dreamin of gettin a job to even support any sort of a decent build...

maybe that 200$ for the crap amp should've been spent on real 0g wire

you wouldnt not believe the crap that passe as 0g these days. I had monster, tsunami, and "installation bay" 0g all next to eachother, the installation bay barely passes as 4g, and the tsunami was a good deal smaller than the monster. No wonder the monster costs 5$ a foot....

Do stuff right and dont cheap out, or dont spend the cash and keep it small. Whatever you do, just do it right. Dont push a 2500rms speaker with an amp i cant see doing 1200 watts all day

ps, my 1200watt amp is fused at 160amps...might have cost a hundred and some more than yours, but atleast it can do what it's rated for, reliably, and cleanly, running cool. So it right the first time, you dont wanna be replacing stuff down the line.

Build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...hl=avalon+build

monster/rockford/kicker/stinger cables, pioneer source, jbl highs/amps, kinetik/shuriken batts, iraggi alt, dei security, dc subs(atleast for now)

Team DC
