Bass4Lyfe Posted November 3, 2008 Report Share Posted November 3, 2008 So I installed a DC LVL 3 D2 for my friend's Mazda the other day (trunk car where seats fold down) He has a Boss 600.2 (trying to get a new amp soon) I have it bridged.... I THINK at 4 ohm maybe 2.... I installed the sub and in the OLD box David built for me, tuned to 34 I think it's right around 3.5 cubes The sub doesn't play very loud at all, we havent put the ports in yet so obviously it's all messed up so there are just 2 empy 4" holes right now, precision ports should be in soon .... will it get much louder after the ports are in or are we at about the same volume but it'll sound better of course? I'm just wondering if we need much more power or if the ports will obviously clear things up ... stupid question i know but thanks! Would have to be 4 ohm since u would have wired sub in series for a 4ohm final load to amp... hopefully you didnt wire in parallel, btw the amp does 600w rms @4ohm bridged I installed the sub and in the OLD box David built for me, tuned to 34 I think it's right around 3.5 cubes The sub doesn't play very loud at all, we havent put the ports in yet so obviously it's all messed up so there are just 2 empy 4" holes right now, precision ports should be in soon .... thats like being tune to 80+hz.... response should be terrible below 70hz since the box would drop off sharply will it get much louder after the ports are in or are we at about the same volume but it'll sound better of course? I'm just wondering if we need much more power or if the ports will obviously clear things up ... stupid question i know not stupid... but its a big leaky box basically and personally i wouldnt ever play a sub in the circumstance less free-airing but thanks!
