I have a question, what could be making my amps get hot? Prior to me buying the kicker L7's my amps would never get hot. Everything has stayed the same, but yet my amps are getting hot. One of the amps is a kenwood 320 watts that is running two pioneer 6x9's and some tweeters the other amp is a punch BD 1000.1 which is basically the same as a T1000.1 exept this amp is 2 ohm stable not 1 ohm stable. I don't understand why both amps are getting that hot all of a sudden. I am running only one L7 to the BD 1000 that is all that has changed. I used to run 3 12 inch HX2 punch speakers off the amp with out any issues. What I am thinking is that I need more ground since I have not grounded the battery to the chassis of the car nor to the engine. I did upgrade the alternator positive, but not the negative yet since I have not received my 0 gauge negative from egay. All I have is the positive run. This weekend I will be tearing everything down again to see what the hell is up. I would like to know what have you guys done to fix this problem when you have encountered it, or what do you think is causing this problem all of sudden.

P.S the L7 is getting hot too :censored:

What does clipping mean? I checked my voltage the lowest it hits is 12.9

If you mean the sub is making a clipping sound, its not making any sounds like its being maxed out.

Please fill me in on this.

just did some online research and If I am correct clipping means that the speaker is underpowered and the amp is struggling to keep pushing it right?

Looks like I'll be ordering a hifonics Brutus 2600 watts rms

If I'm reading it right, it seems you answered your question already. Have you been running the system without the grounds hooked up in the engine compartment? If they have been unhooked since you're waiting on cable, that's the problem. You don't have a return path to ground, which would deffinately cause the overheating
