ty_houston Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 It's going to cost a bit more money but instead of a Sundown 3000D I would reccomend 2 1500D's by Sundown. It will help divide impedence between two amps instead of one resulting in a lower impedence rise and the woofers seeing more power in the end. I went from a single Crunch Gp3000D to 2 Saz1500D's and gained 1.8db's on a direct swap of amps. The 1500's are no joke either. You may want to focus on your eletrical: 3000 watts is more like 2000 watts on 12 volts, add another battery in the back and see if Chris @ missing link audio makes a module for your alternator. If he does you could keep your factory alt, have them charging your electrical system @ 15.2 volts and have around 3200 watt rms from your sundown..just my 2 cents! supercharged hummer h2 8 Sundown nightshade v'2 Scott Bowman built 4th order bandpass 2 precision power pcx 4125(mids & hi's) 2 Stetsom 14k2e's alpine ina-w910 dual Mike Singer350 amp alt 8 kinetic 2400 batteries two shuriken bt 120 1 kinetic 2000 under the hood link to build log: My link
Aaron813 Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 Hifonics XX Thor can run at extremley low ohm loads and is a very very solid amp I have ran mine as low as .35 ohms and it stayed at room temp didnt heat up at all
mlody1921 Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 In poland we have SinusLive Sla 3000 it's the same board massiv and I and my friends never down but must have very good voltage
Eric B Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Id rather run the lvl 4 xl's as there rated for 1500rms each.. youll be happier with them in the end 2007 Chevy HHR LT UNDER CONSTRUCTION 1st Place Loud N Low 2010 MWSPL Finals 3rd Place Xtreme 3 2010 MWSPL Finals
RamenNoodles Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 What you dont realize Even if you threw 1k rms to TWO 15s, that is almost double cone area compared to the ONE 15 L7 you have now. You could throw the same power on those two dc 15s as you have on your 1 sub now and it would be a hell of a lot louder. Electrical wise, you will want to look into getting another battery in the rear for sure. I personally love my GP3000D Pro, puts out 3500 RMS at 1 ohm and its $450 brand new. Cant beat that. Sundowns are nice amps, but if money is an issue, that a few more hundred bucks you will be spending right there. You can always look at getting a refurb 3000 or 2 refurb 1500s from db-r, they come with a warranty. Diablo Audio Technologies Fi Car Audio Ascendant Audio
a_steezy Posted November 25, 2008 Author Report Posted November 25, 2008 i've looked into the xl's and the cost on those is a bit to much i think right now i'm going to either go with a zx2500.1 or xxv collosus, ima probably post another thread seeing what people like, i personally love my kicker amp and it's not completely overpowering the subs, but i think i can get the collosus for the same price, idk what to do, torture the subs, or keep them good as far as electrical i may be getting in over my head, but right now in my eyes i'm not seeing an issue, i can run my system full tilt and the battery doesn't even really get touched at all, if anything i'm worried about my alt going out and i'll just get replace it with a new one when the time comes as i type this i like how the zx2500 is looking probably a little easier on my electrical and wont beat the shit outta the subs... as of now i'm leaning zx2500 but i know the guys at DC and they run and love the hifonics/collosus but in the end it's what i think would be better i hate these tough choices haha '98 Dodge Durango 5.9L 5% front windows, 2.5% on all backs Alpine CDA-9883 Kicker ZX350.4 Kicker KS650's in all doors Kicker 1/0 hyperflex
a_steezy Posted November 25, 2008 Author Report Posted November 25, 2008 collosus costs less... may just have to do that, and with the saved money buy a new alt '98 Dodge Durango 5.9L 5% front windows, 2.5% on all backs Alpine CDA-9883 Kicker ZX350.4 Kicker KS650's in all doors Kicker 1/0 hyperflex
dmanson Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 i think either amp will do but if you can catch them both at the same price i'd go with the Collosus. you'll just have to watch your gain but it's nothing like having a lil extra juice. 2-DC 15XLM2 D.7s 1-DC 5K amp (1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR) 3 runs 1/0ga for power and 2 runs of 1/0ga for negative.
