I have an Iraggi 300A alternator and 4 Kinetik HC2400s in my car. My 2 MCD4KW amps still cause a voltage drop until its unsafe to play... (I kill it at 12.5V but it gets there quick)

I have two questions...

Why is it that my 300A alt cannot handle 8000W when the Hoopty has 2 300A alts and it plays 30,000W with no problem??? What am I doing wrong?

Would the MLA module really reduce current that much?

thats casue the hooptys amp which has hybrird technology that amp only pulls 300 amps.

You MCD4KW amps may pull more amps which i dont know how many amps it pulls.

That's why they don't deliver.

Yer ass better go sit along the side of the road and wait.

You can't expect them to travel up some dirt road in a hick / back woods town. Thats how horror movies start :D

I explain things very simply and use analogies in terms of Pickles, and grape drink, pool noodles and jackhammers...if you can't put 2 and 2 together there man, There simply is not much more I can do.

At full tilt each one pulls 400A.

But does that regulated voltage significantly drop the current?

ive read in a few places that your amps are very power hungry and tend to blow if dropped too low

First question, *when* is the voltage dropping occuring? At idle? Highway speeds? If it is at idle then the most obvious answer is the alternators cant keep up and based on what I've seen from those alts, that would be my first guess.. If it's happening all the time, then it's probably a combination of a lack of alternator output/voltage drop/wiring.. What's the voltage at the batteries in the back? Voltage at the alternator? Have you actually measured the alternator output?

An MLA module will REALLY help a GOOD charging system, but if the alternators cant keep up with current demand then the MLA module can only improve the situation so much.. To answer the question accurately of how much it will help, and how much it will drop the current demand you need to know actual current consumption of the amps at what voltage... If the amps are pulling say [email protected] = 3840 W so at 15.3v the same consumption would be 3840w/15.3v=250 Amps.... So, you gained 50 amps... That's great if the alternator will keep up, especially at idle but if they wont, the module will only help so much...

But, one 300 Amp alt that will only do 50 @ idle isnt going to meet the current demand, so yes, the module will help but the limiting factor in your case is probably the alternator and Chris @ MLA will probably back me up on the above....

Hmm...this is some good info. I've never actually tested the alt output, but I have the same alts as the Hoopty and that's how I'm comparing my situation. And the voltage drops slowly while playing at full tilt. Revving doesn't help much either. I can easily pull off a 15 second burp (which would be my RMS) but music only plays with no gain on the amps. I drop from 13.4 @ idle to 12.5 before I turn it down. It's very loud, but not full potential...

I might just consider a more efficient amp... Any recommendations?

I had the same problem with my Iraggi and Excessive Alt, once I switched to DCPower Alts the voltage decrease was way less...
