Had A Theft ? How Did It Happen ?

I mean, I would think everyone with even a decent stereo setup would have an alarm. So, did the burgalar disable it ? Were they able to get around the type of sensors your alarm uses ? Did you not have it set ?

I don't even have the first peace of my system put in yet, but I did already put in the alarm. Of course for me to discuss the particulars of my alarm, on the internet, would be to potentially decrease it's effectiveness.... But put it this way, even knowing everything that my alarm does (all the sensors that it uses) I sure don't know how I, or a thief could get past it.

Also, as someone had said, they might destroy my truck "trying" to get my amp out (stereo wont ever be left in it)..... but I promise if they do get it out, it won't be usuable / sellable.

Already checked with my insurance company too, and they said as long as I had reciepts for all parts and labor, and everything was "bolted in" it would be covered.

So, as common as thefts are, surely some of you must have thought you had all the bases covered, and STILL got ripped off. Have you changed / upgraded your security since then ? How ?

Have any of you had a LOUD ass system, that you show off regularly, then park on the street, maybe for years, in a neighborhood which might be middle class, but maybe pretty close to low life ghettos...... And still have never gotten ripped ? I did, but that was 20 years ago. Not so many crackheads around back then.....

Hmmmmm,

A really good thief will almost always get around your alarm. There's a lot of tricks to it but I think it's irresponsible to go into details on the net, any little arsehole could be reading threads like this looking for ideas.

If they want it, they'll take it. How destroyed do you think your gear would be if they took the whole truck and had a whole day to casually remove everything in it?

After any show I usually pull the whole system (or at least the really valuable bits like amps and processors) out of the car for a week or so. You just know there's gotta be a few people there writing down your plate. A couple of my friends that show their cars use fake plates when they're at shows.

Best thing to do is adjust your horn into a louder one. Im thinkin of gettin a train horn in the future (Yes it will knock your noodles off.)Anyways that would be a good spot to start. My car is garaged anyways so as soon as the door gets knocked the alarm will go off without the car even being touched. Oh forgot the mention my 2 way pager and my shiney Beretta.

Yeah ive been taken. .ill own up to it.I did everything backwards pretty much. .got all my system done and was paying weekly payments on my alarm install.. then 2 days before the final payment/install my truck got broken into ..under my garage.luckly i had sold my sub amp 3 days prior to a guy that had been begging me for it..(memphis 2000d) which i had on 2 mojo subs. .they got one of the subs and broke the basket on the other (they were prying them out with crow bars i guess) and left it there. They stole my visors (which had 7inch screens) and my memphis 3004 (75x4) that was on my mids and highs and also took my keenwood 915dvd motorized screen that i had . .but didnt take the brain. .they broke in thru my driverside window if that of any importance.I know i think its shady too and yes i think the place i was getting my stuff installed at at the time may have tipped somebody off that i was "about" to get an alarm. .or maybe it was the installer.I dont know. . .but since then i always do alarm first. ..or while its at the shop getting the stuff put in. ..speaking of alarm. .im having the autopage rs1000 put in right now. . kinda excited to check it out.

I guess i kinda bring the stuff on myself because i do ride around jamming my shit alot of the time,or if somebodys showing there shit off i start a competition lol.My favorite is when you pull up beside some people at a redlight and there either jumping all around or bobbin there heads to there supposedly "loud music" and then i turn mine up and they give me that WHAT THE FUCK look lol.but anyways gotta pay to play

Thanks guys. I posted a good, thorough response to this last night.... Then must have hit the review button, instead of the post response. Doh :-( Hate it when I do that. Now late for work....

But hey Boon, I hear you about discussing the fine details of out smarting an alarm on the Internet.

Couple things though, my truck can not be hotwired.... I guess maybe they could drag it onto a flatbed.... but the whole time either my alarm (or if they have disabled that, my backup alarm is going to be screaming.

I'm thinking about getting Lowjack installed as well. Call me paranoid, but I just really don't want anybody jacking my $#!+ !

Speaking of Lowjack, if a guy was already paying for the monthly service anyway, I wonder if extra sensors could be placed inside of large, expensive amplifiers, or subwoofer boxes ???

Hmmm, will have to check on this later.

Peace,

Fish
