I think it depends on where you buy, in stores.. and what kind of deal you can get online..

myself i have bought a few things from best buy and had to have them serviced, one was camera now at the time i had just because a power seller on ebay and it took 5 weeks to get it back,,

i think to what drive people away from stores or overly priced items, and bad experiences..

but yeah something to consider.

meh, after buying sqaure trade you may as well support the brick and mortar shops, it pays off in the long run, more then some 1-800 number tech support.

Not saying you need to buy your whole stereo from them, but if you need wiring harness, speaker wire, connectors and other items that are resonably priced from them.

If you ever need help or tech assistance that brick and mortar shop is going to be more helpful to you when he is standing right next to you vs the other guys on the phone..

Things like bestbuy, circuit city, american, all those big chains I dont think shall be considered a brick and mortar shop, since all their prices are set and thats the final price, where as that ma and pop shop will be able to come down in retail prices a bit. Also dont forget the independent shops can help you with getting competitor prices that will be cheaper then your ebay price most the time..

I have no garage, and needed to put a stereo in my beater car, it was raining and snowing outside, everything was slushie, muddy and cold. So I went to my local shop and bought my wiring harness and antenna adapter for $12 and was told to pull the car inside and do it in there. No online seller can do that for you
