i only use a mp3 player. it is a generic one i got when i signed up for napster. when i use that compared to a regular cd i notice a huge difference in sq and overall loudness. all you need is a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. i am using a dynex one i got when i worked for best buy.

If you want a good Mp3 player, go for a Zune by Microsoft, great sound quality, tons of features, and its lasted me a really long time. They have 4gb, 8gb, 16gb, all the way up to 120gb models. (www.zune.net)

It really depends on the bitrate of the MP3s for quality. Higher the better. An iPod will do just fine if you can hook it up and use high quality rips with no clipping. Downloads tend to have bad quality or clipping so rip from your own CDs.

As was said above the quality of an mp3 depends on the bitrate. If you want a bitrate you cant hear the difference from the uncompressed file go 256 bitrate or 320 bitrate but these files will take up more room of course than your typical mp3 bitrate.
