15's Vs. 18's...

easy right???? nah ha, i'm going with two DC Lvl 4's and i'm debating with the 15's or 18's

15's want roughly 3-4ft^3

18's want roughly 6-8ft^3

the biggest i really wanna go with space is 8-10ft^3 after port displacement

i could suit the 15's real nicely in a nice big home, i'd go 8ft^3 for them, or i could cram the 18's in a 10ft^3 box

I'm going to be running them off a zx2500.1

should i squish the 18's or give the 15's what they want???

prolly gonna tune it 36-38hz.

what would sound better and which would have a greater potential at getting louder...? i know these are super broad questions

i've always wanted 18's but are they necessary?

are you inlcuding the displacement of the port cause the 2 18s will be very hard to get correct

this is a hard one... and might be better answered by rusty, but im gonna guess 2 properly ported 15s will be happier than 2 18s cramped... altho the 18s will proll be luoder since the box will be more peaky and ur tuning so high

id do the 15s if u cant do 13cuft+ external for the 18s

and the 15s have a lower fs so they should be able to get a wee bit lower while being tuned the same as the 18s

I have owned many 15"s and never owned or will own 18"s.

EVERYTHING I always read here on SMD says go with the proper setup, which seems to be 15"s in your case.

Personally I would go with 15's, giving them what they want sounds more productive than squishing 18's, but that's just my .02

Only run 18s if you can give them the proper box. If not your just wasting money on 18s.
