reinke Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 ok i have a alpine 9883, a american bass abx-2, and a crunch 1500.1. i am lost when it comes to using the crossover. i have never really messed with one before. here is how it is set now: alpine 9883-80hz abx-2- 100hz crunch amp- 80 hz normally i only usi my hu but i got a crossover for more flexability and i needed aline driver. when i was using only my amp on my AB Hd dual2 i have the crossover set at about 80hz and my gain was set with a dmm for 900 watts. when i added the crossoveri left the amps x-over point alone and set the abx-2's for 100hz. i am not sure if this is correct or even if having my point set at 80hz is good for a 15. basically i am asking how would i properlt set up this combo without a o scope. ----reference's---- meade916
Nightshade Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 If I were you I would run each of the settings at 100hz. Some people don't like their subs to play above 80 hz but imo I like the subs to play a little higher. It will also help you a little bit for comp reasons since it will let a bit more of a signal through instead of cutting it off at 80 hz. 2013 VW Jetta GLI 2.0 Turbo 1 Sundown Audio SCV2000 1 Sundown Audio X15 V2 1 XS Power D3100 Audio Control LC6i Stock Deck 146.4 sealed on the dash at 37hz 2001 Focus ZX3: RETIRED Team Sundown Audio, Team XS Power, 2 time NSPL Car 3601-Up Champion, 2 time NSPL Car Hardcore ChampionHighest NSPL Scores to date:154.3db on the dash sealed at 46hz, 156.2db in the kick at 46hz155.2db unofficial on dash at 43hz

mbaty1 Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 first thing is first... you should look at the specs for the sub itself and determine it's frequency range.... most 15's will not have any problems running at 100hz, but again, that all depends on the sub itself. Mind telling us what type of sub you are running?

tacomabanga1986 Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 with my setup i set my headunit to 50htz and my amp at around 80-100htz and if i listen to rock i just change the freq of the sub xover on the headunit up a lil bit, but subs dont rly have a prob playin around 100htz but i wouldn't go higher than 150 tho cause thats were midbass picks up at so ied keep it down low to around atleast 80 to 100 on the amp cause for some reason bass aint as punchy at a lower freq, but i keep my headunits sub output to 50htz cause it plays lower bass better but anyways its pritty much just a listening preference so u should be ok tho here's a link to my system 99 toyota tacoma , 2 mtx 8000 1504's in a sealed downfire , 1000w memphis amp here's a link to my other system my 90 geo prizm test car heres a thread i got of new songs u can dl that are legal = Some Good Bangage/you Can Dl These Free And Legit
