Twigz Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Ok, I got my system fixed turns out the converter they used was blown which is why the system wasn't working so I got it replaced but they told me the Crunch GP 3000 is at .5 ohm and it's 1 ohm stable. I got two Dc Lvl 4 lvl 5 coils. The way I believe I wired it was Left Speaker: Positive & Negative to left voice coils Right Speaker: Positive & Negative to right voice coils is this how you wire them in parallel? If not, where did I mess up, it's too fucking cold to take the box out so I can unscrew the subs I tried getting them out having the subs facing forward and it's just not possible. The system plays, I have the bass all the way at 0 I also have the speaker wire to the amp Positive and Negative. If anyone can throw in some input i'd greatly appreciate it. Fear The Quack! EricM9104 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Option 1 (series/parallel) = 1 ohm load Voice coils wired in series, speakers wired in parallel Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 1 ohm mono Option 2 (series) = 4 ohm load Voice coils wired in series Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 4, 2, or 1 ohm mono With the subs paralleled, it'd be a 0.25ohm load at the amp! 2015 Honda Civic LX 4dr | 110k miles | Stock 1996 GMC Yukon SLT 4dr 4wd | 260k miles | JVC Head-unit
Twigz Posted December 16, 2008 Author Report Posted December 16, 2008 Ok, so what exactly do u reccommend me doing? all I want is a 1 ohm load. and a diagram like that is not gonna help me figure it out unless theres an actual pictures of the subs and voice coils. i got 4 wires in the box. I connect two to one sub, the other two to the other sub. how do I make it 1 ohm? the voice coils have a + and - Two VC per side 4 total per sub so a total of 8 voice coils. to wire it at 1 ohm, all i need to know is Left Speaker: do I use the voice coils on the left side, or the right side and positive negative, positive positive ect. Right Speaker: Do i use voice coils on left side or right side, and positive negative, positive positive, ect. I believe I wired the left sub positive negative on left voice coils and positive negative on the right sub on right voice coils they said the amp is at a .5 ohm I'm a jack ass when it comes to this stuff. Boon Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Wow it sounds like it's wired up REALLY wierdly. You have 4 voice coils. A voice coil has both the positive and negative terminals or ends of the coil if you like. It sounds to me like your subs have dual 1 ohm voice coils. At the moment you have 1 voice coil powered on each sub and the other coil is shorted out which actually creates inductance and fights the movement of the cone. You want the wires to go like this Wire 1: Amp positive - Sub 1 positive 1 Wire 2: Sub 1 negative 1 - Sub 1 positive 2 Wire 3: Sub 1 negative 2 - Amp negative Wire 4: Amp positive - Sub 2 positive 1 Wire 5: Sub 2 negative 1 - Sub 2 positive 2 Wire 6: Sub 2 negative 2 - Amp negative This will give you a 1 ohm final load. I bet your system goes a lot better wired like this 10.x volts fo' life!

I bet your system goes a lot better wired like this ok, check ur pm I think im understanding what ur saying. Instead of wiring positive negative on the same side voice coil, i should have a wire running from each side voice coil. so I have 1 speaker wire running on the positive left side voice coil and than i have the right side voice negative. am i on the right track?
