I want it to be ported and tuned around 30-32hZ. And even if I don't hit my 160 mark it will be a hell of a van nonetheless! http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/hairtrick.gif

i can tell you with 85% certainty that you wont hit your 160 mark the first time....especially at 30-32hz. I would work on a 150 first and work your way up.

I'm definitely going to wait before jumping into this build. I'm still doing stuff in the Cruiser and other cars to expand my knowledge and I've been reading and number crunching for weeks. This next PT build will help me determine whether I'm ready or not.

I'm tuning low because even if I don't hit the 160, I'll still have a bad ass groundpounder to have fun with. I won't be disappointed if I don't get it the first time either. That just means I get to try again. :D

And, yes. Earlier in the thread I knew that the smaller alternators are better at idle than the larger ones. I was just mentioning where the difference was noticed for everyone else.

As far as hitting 150, it's been done in the PT. My first wall that my buddy built with me hit 151.7 at my first local comp where I took 1st. I have quite a few other trophies where I broke 150. All of my trophies are at my local shop because it was all Memphis equipment. Once I tore that first wall out and built walls on my own, my numbers dropped. My buddy was real good with car audio and I didn't even know how to wire the subs to the amp at the time. And I just bought a termlab so I can start seeing what I'm working with and prove my numbers.

I know that from my previous builds it appears I know nothing about what I'm doing, and maybe some still assume that. But hasn't anyone noticed the progression? Just wait. This next PT build is gonna be the shit. I'm not going to throw it together like the other ones and I'm not setting a time limit. I've already ordered the equipment and figured out all my procedures and numbers.

Once it's done, I'm gonna start the van.

Need an install? Hit me up.

you do realize that it is NORMAL for a 300a to "not perform" until higher rpms right? 300a alts suck ass at idle no matter what the brand. Get them turning a little and its a different story. A 200a alt will always outperform a 300 amp at idle speeds.

I find with my 200 amp alt that the voltage is slightly lo'er at adle as well (below 1000RPM) partially might be due to the smaller pully added IDK but if you blup the throttle slightly or are driving around, its all good. Not sure if this is the norm as well...

Loudness is no substitute for musicianship, and partial deafness is no badge of honor. I was once able to hear this advice.

Thats the way to do it. Take your time. plan carefully measure twice or trice and cut once. Perhaps you want to make a tunable port in case you want to get silly and hit high numbers. If it matters 32 hz should sound good but i doubt it will rock the TL's socks. Then again I never heard so many big woofers so I might be wrong
