Speaker Grills

Recommended Posts

Been wanting to do this for along time. A ring painted the color of the car and some interior color painted perforated metal like the boxes port. The ring has 2 parts, one to lock into the opening in the panel and the painted pretty part

here we go....

All the screw ups and my modivation , in the special Camo can

outter ring and the old grill

this is the inner ring you can't see when installed.

the door panel has some shape to it. so the outter ring is 1/8" MDF so i have the insert ring in there first, then glue, then the 1/8" cover ring all clamped. i am hoping that the shape put into the 1/8" ring being glued to the inner ring will make it hold it's shape. We will see after the glue drys. the 2 rings make a rabbit in the back for the pef. metal to fit into. the crappy wood you see inside the ring is the door panel about 1.5" back. that is going to be cut out later.

this shows some of the contour but it don't hold all of it. I don't stay tight to the door panel.

So i needed to add some t-nuts so i can attach them fron the back and suck them down. I can't access the speaker with the panel on anyway.

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
