*1LOWSUV* Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Ok, so I hooked up this Panasonic Deck in my beater truck for some lite tunes. Put some new 4x6's in the dash, a pair of 6X9's in the doors. I hook up the 4x6's to the front speaker wires (work fine) Hook up the rear out RCA cables to a little Pioneer amp for the 6X9's and everything works fine...BUT WAIT! Once I turn up the volume to 22-24 the 6X9's cut out...amps still on and once I roll the volume down to 18-20 the 6X9's start to play again.*confizzled* So I wire the 6X9's directly to the rear speaker wires on the deck and I can turn it up to 30 and it doesn't skip a beat. WTF happened???? : [email protected]
sactownstang Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 check the gain.... maybe amp went bad?
roscoe1129 Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 sounds like your little amp isnt capaple of handleing the power the deck throws at it at higher volumes. quite possibly the output voltage is higher at the higher volumes than it l(the amp) ikes to accept... Try a different amp in the same setup or adjusting your gain all the way down. Aaron813 Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 What kind of truck is this the woring could be bad and have a short somewhere between the headunit and the speaker
*1LOWSUV* Posted January 1, 2009 Author Report Posted January 1, 2009 Its an 85 S10 (My fishing truck) all the wiring is new done by me 2 days ago. I know its not the wiring because everything works and at full volume just connected to the decks speaker wires. I swapped out the amp with the new P1000bd I just picked up and the same thing happened...gains turned almost all the way down. It only happen when I use the "Rear RCA's" on the deck. I thought maybe the output voltage on the RCA has to be high so I hooked the battery charger up and started the truck and even at 13.2 volts it still does it. I'm thinking of hooking a hi/low convertor to the rear speaker wires and then seeing what it will do or going from the decks rear speaker outputs into the Pioneers wired input (Yes its an old amp with hi/lo inputs) Shit, its only my beater truck but it would be nice to get these by-nines moving. : [email protected]
roscoe1129 Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 well without having the deck to test the rear rca's I would say it sounds like the deck is cutting them off for some reason after a certain level. Quick fix Y off the front rca's if you dont care about using the fader. Shouldnt be an issue with a small cab truck. I would've done that long ago had it came with 2 sets of RCA's...This was a deck won in a raffle...real cheap, 1 set of "Rear" RCA's. The only reason I'm using it is for the front Aux for my Ipod and the fact if its stolen I'm not trippin..its a Home Depot running, Garbage running and throw my poles and bait in the bed truck. : [email protected]
