Which Setup Do You Think Is Louder?

Recommended Posts

So i just bought my new saz-3000d from chris at db-r wahoo!!! And i was just wondering on which setup you guys think is gonna be louder.

My new setup:

saz-3000d

1 "12 fi btl fully loaded

or

old setup:

mtx 81000d @ 1ohm (1500rms)

2 "12 re audio sr's

Im a newb at stereos, but I know that the more subwoofers you have, the more air you move right? So is one powerful subwoofer, louder than 2 mediocre subwoofers?

I am pretty sure that you will be thoroughly impressed with the setup.Fi makes a great sub and the sundown 3000 amp is a beefy monster of an amp. I would feel comfortable in saying that you will be louder because you are working with much better equipment. You will be loud and sound good doing it as long as you have a nice install good wiring and a good box

thats good to hear. I have a high amp alternator on the way, along with a 2400 kinetic in the trunk. I didnt mean to say re is mediocre, but just the model sub i had. They wernt anywear near the top of the line ones. As for the box, its a ported, 2.8 cuft, tuned at 33hz.

depends greatly on box design and exact power.

The MTX81000D can easily pump out 1500w. so on 2) 12s it will make a certain SPL and displace a certain amount of air.

The Sundown 3000 can easily do 3000w. so it theoretically can make 1 12" displace the same air as 2 12" with less power and make the same SPL.

So if there is any difference it will probably be minimal unless you have a much better enclosure.

actual port was 3.0"

port looks too long to me, I follow the 18" rule.

just measured the port and it is 14.5in

The length looks to be about 25" from the drawing.

In my experience there is no change in tuning from 18" long and up. There is a dip in efficiency though because of the impedance of the air in the port.

So in the theory of the 18" rule your port should be 3" x 14.5" x 18" and you will have the same tuning as in your drawing but it will be louder.
