ok lets just say that us (human beings) were able to go as fast as the speed of light (without the unvierse collapsing on itself) i was thinkin if we were on a train moving faster then the speed of light and there was a train on the tracks next to us coming the opposite way and it was going just as fast as we were. when we past the train could we still see the image of it behind it like it was sitting still next to our train because we're moving faster then the speed of light so the light reflected by the opposite train would still remain when we got there? or would we be moving so fast that we would see absolutly nothing because of the fact were moving faster then the speed of light and no light can catch up. but that puts me into a problem of where im startin to think that we would only see a tube of white light infront of us because were only seeing light that were forcing thru and its all mashed together. i dunno give me your opinions about this i always love talking with my physics teacher about this kinda stuff but im outta school now and my friends just dont like to think about these things.

Nope we would see nothing if 2 trains were going different directions. even @ the same direction. If we go as fast as light we would teleport.

so it would be twice the speed of light.

I figure its like this,

If each train was say, 186,000 miles long, and both coming right at each other at about the speed pf light, we would only see the train for half a second, if we didn't blink, or if it didn't disintegrate everything due to pressure waves ( you did say train, not space ships in a open vacuum)

Now thinking about 2- 186,000 mile long trains passing each other for about a half second, imagine the trains are really only about 1- 2 miles long like big freight trains, so imagine that 186,000 mile long train being cut down 184,000 miles in length, I don't want to calculate anything but that seems like it would be so brief, there is no way it would even be notice unless there was one of those cameras with a 1,000,000 picture per second, that might pick up the train on a few frames

Thats my thought on that

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

^^ yea but if you think your movin faster then the speed of light so you would see the real train for a breif sec but would you be able to catch the old image of it before the light escaped. like seeing 2 trains one right after the other it would be fast as all hell you might not be able to see it but would it be there?

Teleport implies instantaneous transmission.

Light still has velocity, it's just really really fast.

What's odd to consider is relativity - as you approach the speed of light everything else seems to speed up around you.

Theres a lot of weird things to consider as you approach the speed of light... it's a bit beyond most people... including me :P

i always thought things started to slow down because of the fact the light from the things around you cant keep up so its like the if someone moves the light has to reflect off of them and hit your eye now if your moving near the speed of light it would take those light particles longer to catch you which would give the full image of the object slowing down.
