I took it appart and it looks totally fucked. im not sure what he was running off of it but he had peiced together 18 gauge wire for power and ground, lol. any help would be nice. thanks in advanced. Boon Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 That brown shit all over the solder points is probably just excess flux. If you heat it with a soldering iron it will bubble and boil off. I can't see anything obviously wrong with it from the pics, check the output BJT's (the big transistors) in case it's one of them but it's probably some shitty little part in the signal path that's given up. I assume you don't have access to an oscilloscope? You're kinda shooting in the dark without one. 10.x volts fo' life!

You could just follow the audio signal from the RCAs and see where it disappears but it could be a problem with the protection circuit or something else in the amp. Sometimes it's easier to repair an amp when it's nice and blown up and you can see everything that's wrong with it 10.x volts fo' life!
