They won't melt your housing...

Don't worry about them being on all the time... People here ride around with them on all day because they last forever, remember these aren't some cheap halogens.

I personally ride with mine during the day when it's cloudy and at night (of course).

With your HID's being a conversion kit, you shouldn't have to worry about wiring around your DRLs.  They will be wired to a different relay as most cars use a different bulb for the DRL's (hense the reason why they are dimmer).

yeah i got a 2004 buick lesabre and it uses the high beam bulb as the driving light but it a different filament than the actual highbeam so the highbeam bulbs has two filaments. kinda wierd :huh:

2003 Toyota Matrix (and Pontiac Vibe), Toyota Corolla

Automatic headlight and DRL disable information. DRL module located above brake pedal. Remove module. Cut connecting legs to the board, pins 19 & 20, to kill auto lights. Kill DRL, cut legs 10 and 11, leave board side of 10 open, connect board end of 11 to ground (external switch or to leg 2), connect outgoing 10 and 11 to each other.

Method 2 Kill both DRL and auto lights, cut yellow wire (or leg 8 DRL relay), ground the module end of wire.

HID's are known for melting stock housings.

HIDs burn a lot cooler than halogens I dont see how it would melt stock housing....

HIDs last longer than halogens as well.

wish i had known that before i bought the eBay cheapos. now i have to hit one of my headlights to get the dim to work. i want REAL HIDS dammit

btw ive recently herd the reason why hids melt housings is not because of higher heat but because the bulb is alot longer so depending on how close the plastic is to the new bulb it may melt

theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer
