Each A/C unit should have an attached power/Gnd/Rem wire and they should be around 16-14ga (pretty small-NOT like an amp wire which would be 8ga or bigger) The Epic and the Three.1 & Four.1 should all have the same "plug" that you can hard wire in to you power/gnd/rem leads (at deck or w/e ur mounting it) and then you will just run rca's in and out of that unit-in from deck, out to amp/s. So put it before the electronic crossover if you have one. They say it needs the full signal to do it's best work. I couldn't tell a difference but why not follow the directions. I like mine but i rarely use it. I think it can "muddy" things up. Nice for some old Van Halen (5150) where bass is majorly lacking. Even the Cranberries (catheadral song) Works wonders! I have had 3 of them. I keep adding them.
